Schedule Details

Day 1: Arrival in San José

Today we will pick you up at your airport in San José, and then transfer you to your hotel to get you checked in and acclimated. 

Meals Included: N/A

Accommodations: Hotel Grano de Oro, Deluxe Room

Day 2: San José to Pacuare

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to your next hotel. You will also get the experience to travel to the lodge through a raft on the Pacurare River and experience the local flora and fauna surrounding the river. 

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Accommodations: Pacuare Lodge, Garden Suite

Day 3: Optional Tours in Pacuare Lodge or Leisure Day

These activities must be booked directly at the hotel as per the hotel's daily schedule. The available activities are:

  • Canyoning
  • Birdwatching
  • Challenge Waterfall Hike
  • Cabecar Indigenous Hike
  • Rural Experience Sustainable tour
  • The Loop, Naturalist Guided Cultural Walk

Day 4: Pacuare Raft - Transfer to Arenal

Leaving Pacuare Lodge, guests will be able to raft back out and then transfer to the Arenal area. Here we will check into our new hotel and have the rest of the time to relax.

Accommodations: Tabacón Grand Spa Thermal Resort, Orchid Room

Day 5: Private Arenal Volcano Hike

Today will be a private volcano hike in Arenal Volcano National Park. Besides taking an easy mile-long trail, you will have the opportunity to enjoy views from an observation platform and learn more about the volcanoes' history and nature. At the end of this trail there will be a tropical fruit snack provided before boarding a boat ride around the lake. After you will return to the hotel.

Day 6: Private Transfer to Papagayo Península

Today after breakfast there will be a private transfer provided to travel to the Papagayo Península. There will be some time to relax and explore the surrounding area.

Day 7: Leisure Day in Papagayo Península

Today will be a free day so that you can explore the local area at your own leisure.

Day 8: Private Transfer to Liberia - Domestic flight to San José - Departure

After breakfast you will be privately transferred to Liberia and then take a domestic flight to San José. There will be a domestic terminal to Juan Santamaría International Airport where you will be able to meet your departing flight.

Is This a Private or Group Tour?

This tour is primarily private. Your transfers throughout the itinerary are private, and activities such as the Arenal Volcano hike by the lake are private. The only shared elements are the rafting in and out of Pacuare Lodge and the activities at Pacuare Lodge, which are shared with other lodge guests.

Can the Itinerary Be Customized?
