Day 1: Salt Lake City - USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum - Canyonlands - Dead Horse Point - Moab

Your adventure will begin around 9 AM when your tour guide picks you up either from Salt Lake City Airport or from a hotel of your choosing. If you'd like to start your tour from an area other than Salt Lake City, please let us know and we'll make arrangements.

From Salt Lake City, we'll drive southeast until we reach the USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum in Price, Utah. At this accredited museum you can discover what life was like millions of years ago in eastern Utah. The museum houses over 700,000 archaeological and paleontological specimens, including real dinosaur fossils, Utahraptor remains, and artifacts from the ancient Fremont people.

After exploring the museum, we'll grab a quick lunch and depart for Dead Horse Point State Park. Located just a few miles from Canyonlands National Park, Dead Horse Point offers a stunning viewpoint of the Colorado River 2,000 feet below. Your guide will share the interesting story of how this park got its name.

Next, we'll drive over to the adjacent Canyonlands National Park. This park is made up of three distinct regions: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, and the Maze. Today we'll tour the Island in the Sky region, situated high above the Colorado River on the Colorado Plateau. From this vantage point, we'll see deep into the canyons below for views of geology shaped over millions of years.

Following Canyonlands, we'll travel to Moab, Utah, for dinner and to explore the town. Located between Arches and Canyonlands, Moab is the gateway to many of Utah's greatest natural landscapes. This popular town offers river rafting, hiking, rock climbing, helicopter tours, horseback riding, and more.

Finally, we'll drop you off at your hotel in Moab so you can relax before the next day's adventure.

Accommodations: Best Western, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Archway Inn, or similar quality hotel

Day 2: Arches - Adventure in Moab - Colorado River

In the morning, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Arches National Park. With more than 2,000 arches, the park has the densest concentration of natural sandstone arches in the world. With only a short hike, many world-famous arches can be seen, including Landscape Arch, Delicate Arch, and Double Arch. This is one national park you do not want to miss.

Afterward, we'll return to Moab for an adventure of your choice. Options include river rafting, horseback riding, additional hiking, a riverboat tour, an off-road 4×4 tour, and more. (Adventures are at your own expense and can be arranged through your guide.) These activities will take us until dinner time, which we'll enjoy in town.

The last destination today is Potash Road. Found right outside Moab, this scenic drive winds along the Colorado River with water on one side and towering rock cliffs on the other. Along the way, your guide will point out ancient petroglyphs, dinosaur tracks, and additional arches that can be accessed by foot.

Finally, we'll drop you off at your hotel in Moab so you can relax before the next day's adventure.

Day 3: Goblin Valley - Capitol Reef - Torrey/Bryce

In the morning, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Goblin Valley State Park. The "goblins" of Goblin Valley get their name from the thousands of unique hoodoos, or columns of weathered stone, that dot its surface. There are no official paths in the main valley, so you can walk right up to the hoodoos for stunning photos. If time permits, your guide can lead you on a hike to Goblin's Lair, a tall hidden cave that must be seen to be believed.

Following Goblin Valley, we'll depart for Capitol Reef National Park, passing through the San Rafael Swell. Capitol Reef has a rich history and unique geology. Over 1,000 years ago the Fremont people lived in this region, leaving petroglyphs on the cliffs that can still be seen today. We'll also explore the remnants of Fruita, a small pioneer settlement established in the 1880s, known for its historic orchards.

Finally, we'll travel along the beautiful Scenic Byway 12, recognized as one of America's most spectacular drives, until we reach the town of Bryce. Along the way, if time permits, we'll explore Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Upon arriving in Bryce, we'll have dinner at one of the local restaurants and then drop you off at your hotel.

Day 4: Bryce Canyon - Kanab

In the morning, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Bryce Canyon National Park. From its beautiful pink and white cliffs to its thousands of hoodoos, Bryce Canyon is sure to leave a powerful impression on you. The park features many easily accessible viewpoints that provide excellent locations for photography. For the more adventurous, your guide can take you down into the canyon along the Navajo-Queen's Garden Trail, passing right next to incredible rock formations that have taken millions of years to shape.

Following Bryce Canyon, we'll drive south along Highway 89 toward Kanab, Utah. This region in southern Utah has both a beautiful landscape and a rich history. Due to its spectacular red sandstone cliffs and unique terrain, Kanab has been used as the set of many famous Hollywood films and TV shows, including The Lone Ranger, Planet of the Apes, and Arabian Nights. While in the Kanab area, you'll see the alluring Pink Coral Sand Dunes, the impressive Moqui Sand Caves, and if time permits, the magnificent Toadstools and Horseshoe Bend.

The journey takes us through Page, Arizona, where we'll stop for a quick bite to eat at a local eatery. While in southern Utah, there's no better way to experience the American Southwest than from the air. You'll have the opportunity to take a scenic Cessna flight featuring fantastic bird's-eye views of some of the country's most striking scenery. From the air, you'll see Lake Powell, Rainbow Bridge, Horseshoe Bend, and Reflection Canyon. This one-hour flight is included in the tour and is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

For dinner, we'll eat at one of the many restaurants in Kanab. After dinner, your guide will drop you off at your hotel.

Day 5: Zion - Salt Lake City

In the morning, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Zion National Park. Zion will surely take your breath away as you travel through gorgeous wind-sculpted canyons and hike along incredible trails. The park has something for everyone: those who prefer to stay in the vehicle will love the intricate patterns on Checkerboard Mesa and the views at Weeping Rock. Amateur hikers will enjoy the stunning views from the Canyon Overlook Trail and the Riverside Walk. For experienced hikers, The Narrows offers a more challenging adventure wading through the Virgin River canyon.

Next, we'll depart from Zion and drive to Salt Lake City. Settled in 1847 by Mormon pioneers, Salt Lake City has grown into the vibrant capital of Utah and a gateway to the West. If time permits, your guide will take you to see the heart of the city: Temple Square and the State Capitol Building.

Depending on when your plane departs, we can either drop you off at the airport or at a hotel of your choice.
