At the USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum, you can explore what life was like thousands to millions of years ago in Southern Utah. This museum houses over 700,000 archaeological artifacts, ranging from complete sets of dinosaur bones to pictographs left by the Fremont people over 2,000 years ago. No matter your interests, you are bound to find something you enjoy.</p> <p>After exploring the USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum, we will have a quick lunch. Following lunch, we will continue with the itinerary, visiting the following places:</p> <p><strong>Dead Horse Point:</strong> Located just a few miles from Canyonlands National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park offers a unique view of the Colorado River 2,000 feet below. While driving around, your tour guide will share the intriguing story of how this park acquired its name.</p> <p><strong>Canyonlands:</strong> Canyonlands National Park is divided into three distinct regions: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, and the Maze. We will be touring the Island in the Sky region, which is situated high above the Colorado River. From this vantage point, we will peer deep into the virtually untouched canyons below, providing a glimpse into the region’s ancient past.</p> <p><strong>Moab:</strong> Positioned between Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, Moab is considered the gateway to many of Utah’s most extraordinary natural landscapes. <p>In the morning, your tour guide will come to pick you up from your hotel and drive you to <strong>Arches National Park.</strong> With more than 2,000 arches, Arches National Park boasts the densest concentration of natural sandstone arches in the world! Many world-famous arches can be seen in all their glory with only a short hike, including Landscape Arch, Delicate Arch, and Double Arch. Undoubtedly, this is one national park you do not want to miss! For guests in the mood for an amazing hike, your guide can take you to the Delicate Arch trail (3 miles round-trip, moderate difficulty) for incredible views and photo opportunities.</p> <p>If you decide not to hike to Delicate Arch, we’ll return to Moab, Utah for an adventure of your choice. Guests will have the opportunity to select an activity, which could include river rafting, horseback riding, additional hiking, a riverboat tour, an off-road 4×4 tour, and more! These adventures will keep us engaged until dinner time, which we will enjoy in town.</p> <p>The last destination we'll visit today is <strong>Potash Road</strong>. Located just outside Moab, Potash Road winds along the Colorado River, with water on one side and a massive rock cliff on the other. This road, although stunning, is not the main attraction. <p>In the morning, your tour guide will come to pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the Four Corners Monument.</p> <p><strong>Four Corners Monument:</strong> It's the only place in America where four states converge: Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. Since the monument is located within the Navajo Nation, it's also a great place to purchase locally made Native American jewelry and other souvenirs to bring home.</p> <p>Next, we'll depart for <strong>Gooseneck State Park</strong>, which offers stunning views of a river that has carved deeply into the landscape, creating a canyon full of tight turns that are sure to surprise you. Along the way, we'll have lunch in Teec Nos Pos, just outside of Four Corners Monument. You'll also have the opportunity to see Mexican Hat, an incredible sombrero-shaped rock formation.</p> <p>From Gooseneck State Park, we'll proceed towards Monument Valley.</p> <p><strong>Monument Valley:</strong> Comprising vast buttes that tower over 1,000 feet in the sky, Monument Valley is the perfect place to stretch your legs after the long car ride and capture some photographs. These buttes have made appearances in many movies, the most famous being the running scene in Forrest Gump.</p> <p>For the final leg of today’s journey, we'll drive to <strong>Flagstaff, Arizona</strong>, which is known for its delectable food. On this day, we will be visiting the following locations:</p> <p>In the morning, your tour guide will come to pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Petrified Forest National Park.</p> <p><strong>Petrified Forest National Park:</strong> This park is renowned for its extensive deposits of petrified wood. Petrified wood forms when a tree is buried by sediment, protecting it from organisms that could cause decay. Over time, minerals in the groundwater replace the wood, transforming it into stone.</p> <p>After visiting Petrified Forest National Park, we'll have a quick lunch and then proceed to Meteor Crater.</p> <p><strong>Meteor Crater:</strong> It is a hole 550 feet deep and 1 mile wide, created by the impact of a meteorite over 50,000 years ago. As you gaze out over the rim of the crater, you'll be able to envision the scale of this impact and its impact on the local landscape.</p> <p>Next, we'll drive south toward <strong>Sedona, Arizona</strong>. Nestled amidst towering red cliffs, Sedona is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sunset. We'll begin by exploring the local landscape and hiking some of the beautiful trails around Sedona. Later, we'll return to Sedona to admire its stunning architecture, such as the Chapel of the Holy Cross, built into the surrounding rock. This canyon was carved by the Colorado River over a period of 6 million years, resulting in an astonishing panoramic view. Be sure to bring your camera; you will not want to miss capturing this destination!</p> <p>Continuing on, we'll depart for <strong>Las Vegas</strong> to drop you off at the airport or a hotel of your choice. If there is time remaining, your tour guide can take you around Las Vegas.
